Jodhpur was founded by RaoJodha, the Rajput clan and after him city was named so. Famously Jodhpur is also known as Sun Citywhich was ruled by brave Rajput throughout its history. Rajput community lives in major population in this majestic city. Jodhpur and its culture get more flourished during colonial era. Before establishment of Jodhpur the area was famously known as Marwar.

Nearby the Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada is situated which was built in the fond memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh. It has several stunning paintings of warriors of royal family and artistic collection belonging to that time. Apart from paintings it has multilevel garden, carved gazebo and decorated pond.
